Reading no-shows without blaming the customer

No-show rates look decisive until you notice how arrivals are logged. In several Johor workshops, cars that turned up without a booking were entered as walk-ins while the original appointment stayed marked absent.

The Monday chart then scolded customers who had actually sat in the waiting chairs. A cleaner habit is to convert the appointment status when a walk-in matches a name or plate already on the day list.

Analytics for automotive service apps only helps when the floor and the screen agree on what “absent” means. Until then, treat the percentage as a conversation starter, not a verdict.
